TCVB's mission is making Tokyo the world's choice. To achieve this, we are working to support Tokyo's development as a sustainable host city for tourism and business events.
Tokyo offers culture, art, nature, food and entertainment, attracting both local and overseas visitors. As a crossroads where tradition and innovation meet, Tokyo continually gives rise to compelling new experiences.
At the same time, Tokyo is home to a large population and industries rooted in the local area, with a culture and environment that residents want to protect.
The tourism industry can place a burden on the environment by encouraging movement of people and the consumption of energy. Additionally, excessive concentrations of visitors can cause issues like overtourism.
TCVB takes the responsibly of promoting sustainable tourism seriously. Our aim is to minimize the negative environmental and social impacts of tourism, while further developing Tokyo's tourism industry to continue making Tokyo the world's choice.
Making the city sustainable through tourism
To accomplish this mission, we are engaged in partnerships to promote cooperation in both planning and action.
These partnerships will focus on the following five activities, and together with our partners we strive to deepen our knowledge and pursue positive outcomes.
-
Reduction of environmental impact
-
Contribution to the local economy
-
Engagement in the local community
-
Protection and utilization of cultural heritage
-
Contribution to the protection of natural heritage
We will continue to strengthen our cooperation with further partners in striving to make the city more sustainable through tourism and business events.
